PASTURE WALK SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY

HONOLULU, October 7, 2011 -- Join us for a pasture walk at Triple D Ranch in Honokaa on Saturday, October 8th starting at 9:00 a.m. In partnership with the Hawaii Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative (GLCI), the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is helping to coordinate this event, focused on grass-finishing cattle.

"It is an honor to partner with Hawaii GLCI and the DeLuz family," said Mr. Angel Figueroa, NRCS Director of the Pacific Islands Area.

Participants will learn pasture characteristics, herd management tips, the effects of stress on cattle, and grass-finishing issues in today's cattle market. The pasture walk will begin at the Triple D Ranch corral, about 1.5 miles up Old Cane Haul Rd (mauka just before the 4 mm on the Honokaa-Waipio Rd).

Pasture Walks are conducted in field settings and may include limited physical exertion. You agree that any risks taken are your own decision with no liability to landowners, USDA, NRCS, Hawaii Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative, or other partners of this event. If you require special accommodations, please contact Loretta Metz at 808-885-6602 x102.
